“The southern port is one of the seven wonders of Israel”, said the minister of transport, Mr. Israel Katz, when referring to the new seaport currently being built in Ashdod, near the ‘Eshkol’ power plant.
The southern port project is a central high-profile project. This is a paramount project for the Israeli economy. It is expected to be an additional privately-owned seaport for import and export made through southern Israel. It construction is to be completed in 2021. PMEC (Pan Mediterranean Engineering Company), owned by the Chinese ‘China Harbor’ company, won the tender for this project.
Its construction includes building work platforms, wave breakers , storage facilities and conduct marine excavation.
